When my daughter needed to go to Oxford for an event, I volunteered quite happily to take her there, in the hope that I would have the chance to explore the city with my camera. It was as interesting as I imagined, although the images I captured were quite different from what I thought I might see. But the best part came near the end of the day, when I stopped to sit down on a bench by a busy road. I noticed the long human shadows on the other side of the road, which belonged to people who were perhaps returning home from work or study. Interestingly enough, almost every person walked in the same direction. It was truly fascinating to observe and photograph the shadows, which reminded me of black paper silhouettes, although I took care not to create complete silhouettes of the shadows. I love their almost translucent appearance.
